Slow news day

I should have made an entry a week or so ago, but I just was too lazy. I picked up an album called "Babylon" by Skindred. The band is a mix of reggae and modern metal, but it rocks in a clean (and aggressive?) way that most of the other modern metal bands seem to miss. The first single, "Nobody", has sort of a sing-song chorus in a reggae style, but set to a metal sound and beat. The lead sing does use some of the modern metal belch and grunt sounds which don't do much for me, but despite that the song works pretty well. I also think that a number of the other songs on the album could be good enough to be released to the airwaves.. but then over the last month or so I've only heard Nobody twice, so I'm not sure if it's getting the airplay it deserves.

It's rather refreshing to have modern metal around that I like. Over the last few years, I've basically picked up Evanescense, Toxicity from System of a Down, and now Skindred's album. Overall I'd say the late 90s and early 00s have been fairly poor when it comes to rock and metal, which is a shame because in the 80s and early 90s it seemed like music was just always good (or at least there was always some sort of selection that was good).

In other news, I've picked up GTA: San Andreas and my current "total progress" is about 45%. I might make some seperate entries detailing some things about the game, but if I do they'll be under lj-cuts because I'll be putting spoiler-type information up.
